Building Digital Collections

About

Looking to build a digital collection website? Explore the potential with CURIOSity at curiosity.lib.harvard.edu and learn how to get started at curiosityservice.library.harvard.edu.

CURIOSity is a platform that brings together curated, publicly accessible, digitized materials in one place. It allows curators to highlight hidden collections, unite dispersed collections, and create new relationships among content.

Our service streamlines the process of building digital collections and exhibits. By leveraging metadata and digitized items in Harvard Library’s digital collections infrastructure, CURIOSity enhances the discovery and usage of digital collections with dedicated search and browsing features.

We offer comprehensive support from idea to launch and beyond, including project and metadata consulting, content strategy, legal review, training and technical support. This is made possible through a suite of tools running on centrally supported infrastructure.

CURIOSity is backed by Library Technology Services and built on Spotlight, an open-source tool developed by Stanford. We offer free access to all the benefits of Harvard Library’s digital collections infrastructure and expertise.

Not sure if CURIOSity will work for your project? We can consult with you about other options for making Harvard Library collections findable and usable.
