CURIOSity 3.0 Released!

Dear Colleagues,

Harvard Library’s User Experience and Discovery team, in partnership with Library Technology Services is excited to announce the release of CURIOSity 3.0, the Library’s primary platform for showcasing digital collections.

This work is in support of the library’s Multi-Year Goals 21 (Simplify and enhance online discovery) and 23 (Enhance online access to digital objects for research and teaching).

A number of important updates are part of this significant release, including:

  • Migration of collections from Spotlight 2.0 to Spotlight 3.0. Spotlight 3.0 enhances the interface for users as well as curators and improves the technical infrastructure of the library’s digital collections.
  • Integration of full-text search. Check out Slavery, Abolition, Emancipation and Freedom to try full-text searching in CURIOSity.
  • New features including tagging, fielded searching, and interactive metadata links. Check out the demo collection to see these features in use.
  • Accessibility updates and design enhancements that align with the Library’s brand guidelines.
  • HarvardKey integration for curators.

Stay tuned for an invite to see a demo of the new features. In the meantime, you are invited to check out CURIOSity 3.0 and provide your feedback. If you encounter technical issues, please use the Report a Problem link found in the footer of any page on the site.

Curators interested in developing new representations of collections in CURIOSity are welcome to visit https://curiosityservice.library.harvard.edu to learn more.

Sincerely,

Vanessa Venti, on behalf of the CURIOSity 3.0 Team
